1. Includes 260 female Naval Officers of unknown ranks.
2. Due to ongoing validation of data from the Joint Personnel Administration System, all Army statistics from 1 April 2007, and Naval Service and RAF statistics from 1 May 2007 are provisional and subject to review.
3. There have been no personnel at NATO Rank OF-10 since April 1990.

UK Regular Forces includes all trained and untrained personnel. Gurkhas, Full Time Reserve personnel, and mobilised reservists are excluded. NATO Rank is based on JPA field 'Paid Rank', if this field is blank then NATO Rank is based on JPA field 'Substantive Rank'.

There is no rank structure as such for Chaplains in the Naval Service. An equivalent rank for the purposes of this TSP is derived from length of service. Army Chaplains have a rank structure which is partly length of service based. In the RAF Chaplaincy, promotions to OF-3 and OF-4 are length of service based.

Figures less than 100 have been left unrounded so as not to obscure the data.

Due to rounding methods used, figures may not always equal the sum of the parts. When rounding to the nearest 10, numbers ending in 5 have been rounded to the nearest multiple of 20 to prevent systematic bias.

- denotes zero.
* denotes not applicable.
p denotes provisional.
